Game of Thrones Season 6

In the books it’s noted he was a child protegy and was one of the youngest kingsguard ever(my impression is 16 but I could be wrong). He was not the head Kingsguard though ( I believe that was Gerold Hightower). Tyrion was implied to be quite a few years younger than him.

Anyways, that was probably one of the best medieval battle scenes since Braveheart (better than Kingdom of Heaven imo, tho it was pretty high quality as well)

OK, so they may grow much larger. That ties things up better for me.

I do agree with higgs on the not killing diplomats. Not from a moral point of view, but simple strategic thinking. If a parlay puts the ambassadors at risk, it gets harder to negotiate, so it seems like a bad strategy. Far better to let them go to their ships and/or camps and then destroy them in a fight.

Historically, some leaders do execute ambassadors to send a sign, but it’s usually the more brutal, hun-like party. The Ottomans received Byzantine ambassadors a few years before the fall of Constantinople and sent back the word “send me ambassadors making similar demands and I will send them back disemboweld (or quartered, I forget exactly).” That’s a statement about the demands, though, and not whether ambassadors would be received at all. That makes more sense.

As for Rickon’s end. I guess that means there are no more trueborn male Starks around, unless you go way farther up the tree. Just Sansa and Jon. And if R + L = J, then not even J.

(Oh wait, there’s Bran. Egads, Ned and Kate were at it a lot).

Ser Barristan Selmy was Lord Commander of the Kingsguard under Aerys II. Jaime was just a member of the Kingsguard.

Thanks for clearing that up. That makes sense.

Yep, Bran is technically the Lord of Winterfell, actually has been since the Red Wedding but no one knew it until he showed up alive at Castle Black.

Sure thing. I only remembered because when Joffrey dismissed him he said something to the effect of having been Lord Commander for 3 kings (Aerys, Robert, and whoever was king before Aerys) and Joffrey or Cersei pointed out that he let 2 of them die.

Yea but that’s like if 2 people agree at a meeting to not kill each other. Then a few weeks later, 1 tried to do just that. And now at the second meeting, we’re all going to sit and have a nice conversation about it? Especially since the person that was targeted has more power and a stronger army?

And, while Jaime was definitely awesome in combat, The Mad King made him the youngest member in the history of the Kingsguard to both piss off Tywin and keep Jaime close. By making Jaime part of the Kingsguard he could never hold land or title so Tywin gets robbed of his golden child taking over Casterly Rock. And, the Mad King never trusted Tywin (and was possibly in love with Tywin’s wife) and saw him as a threat to his rule. By keeping Jaime close, he effectively was holding Tywin’s favorite child as a hostage.

Edit: And I agree with Itera

Which means you agree with me (http://www.analystforum.com/comment/91697478#comment-91697478)

Gerold Hightower was the Lord Commander under Aerys. Selmy was captured at the battle of the Trident. Hightower died at Tower Joy by Ned Stark. Selmy was made Lord Commander by Robert when he claimed the crown.

^ You’re right, I stand corrected. Selmy must have simply said that he’d served 3 kings.

Sansa better not be pregnant with Ramsey’s kid. That “I’m a part of you now” line was cringeworthy.

I was concerned about that too, but it would be too big a departure from the books. Sansa never even meets Ramsey in the books.

^ It would also be inconsistent with her statement that everything about him will be forgotten.

I wondered about that, too.

Ramsay had done some pretty awful things to her which she’ll remember forever im sure.

Edit: Australian comedy and Spoilers abound

Looks like we have Dark Sansa. She manipulated Jon into fighting Ramsay (he has our brother!). Then when it’s time to fight him, just brushes off the brother part (Rickon’s as good as dead). She keeps LF’s army in her pocket, without giving Jon any idea, resulting in the slaughter of tons of his men and puts him at serious risk of dying. Then she feeds Ramsay to the dogs.

Sounds like one of my exes.
