Judgements aside, I do believe that women in general are brought up to be conflicted mentally and emotionally. People have evolved to have sex. Men want to bang as many women as possible as often as possible. Women want to be banged by the strongest, smartest and fittest male possible. The difference is that men are honest about their intentions, and are thus viewed as shallow or amoral by some. Women, on the other hand, are taught to be innocent and pristine; virginity or having few male sex partners are seen as praiseworthy conditions in western society. But you go to the movies and watch somebody kill dozens of people, but as soon as he gets the girl in an embrace and kisses her it just fades to black and they wake up in bed together. ^ You forget that is there is someone doing the killing in those movies. Perhaps many people want to kill but know that society will punish them, so they get the fix by watching it in the movies. Reminds me of my friend from college, who is incidentally also Indian. He had this weird relationship with this girl, but they never hooked up. They would literally lay in the same bed for the whole night, and the girl would always say things like “I like how you are so sincere… I would never be able to do this with some other guy without him taking advantage of me, blah bla blah”, sometimes in the presence of me and other people. The rest of us would be like, wtf is going on? Fortunately, my friend eventually became no longer a pussy, and he got a real girlfriend later.

Sounds fishy to me. I don’t know the whole story, but this sounds like it might not have been a “legitimate rape” (thank you, Todd Akin). Might have been a “I have deep emotional issues even before this happened and I made a bad decision and stewed about it and after two days I decided this was the best way to clear my conscience.”

Again–this is pure conjecture. I don’t know what really happened.

If you want to go the friend route, just BE her friend. Don’t think about how you will explain it to her. Just be a friend.

I change my vote. This will be a good learning experience for you. Just try to not take it too hard next spring when you find out that eventhough she finally decided to be with you, she was actually boning some other dude too the entire time.
