The first order of business should be to change the poll on the right side of the page. It’s been the same question for a couple years and there are only 62 votes. That’s sad on at least three levels.
If this is a competitive voting process, I hope to see brief candidate statements reflecting their views on forum policy and their future vision for AF. Not all voters will be familiar with the candidates’ history of posting on AF, and the candidates’ policy inclinations might not be reflected in their previous posts. Written statements would also be a show of good faith that the candidates are serious about spending some time thinking about forum policy, at least to the extent that they are willing to write a short paragraph to explain their platforms.
Ultimately, I realize that bchad/Chad will probably just choose whoever they want. However, if there is going to be a “user poll” component at all, it might as well be as legitimate as possible.
On a side note, maybe it would be nice to hide the “AF all time point leaders list”. This might be counter to the point of that table, but I increasingly feel like a loser for having the most posts on some internet forum…
Wow, people were always talking about stuff I never saw. I thought it was because of Ad Block. I didn’t know I could get rid of all that annoying white space (at least partially)! But I can confirm it happens when switching themes. There are like 3 or 4 boxes which weren’t there before.
