I took Schweser Book 1, Exam 3 this past weekend. Pretty disappointed in the results. 67% on the AM, 58% on the PM.
I definitely missed some low-hanging fruit in the AM and thought I would break the 70% barrier before grading it. The PM just seemed so difficult to me and it really exposed topics that I am very weak on. Feeling like I’m a long ways from passing this test.
I’m noticing a hige amount of variation between the Schweezer exams.
Exam 1 seems to stick to the core concepts, and exam 2 seems to bang all the wierd corners… the stuff you gloss over because you don’t thing you’d actually see that on an exam.
Still doing open book practive exams at this point.
Cgottuso, would you mind providing a little more guidance on where you were able to find the pm sections of old exams. I’m having trouble finding them online.
I just scored a 64% on the 2011 CFAI Morning Session. Pretty pleased with my result considering I missed a lot of points by forgetting to normalize a return requirement.
I think the afternoon CFAI problems have to be done online and are in the form of Mock Exams. I don’t think the CFAI distributes PM sections of prior exams.
There are three PM mocks on the CFAI website - they’re poorly labeled. One of the PM mocks is named “AM Mock.” Just click around on the four links under practice exams. One will redirect you to the 2011 - 2013 AM tests and the other three are PM mocks.
So the 2 PM mocks (and one of the “AM mocks”) are the PM sections from 2011-2013?
If so, have you been able to deduce which mock belongs to which year? Would like to do some proper mocks (in exam conditions) to see where I’m at, but don’t want to pair the wrong AM & PM which throws topic weightings around
I don’t recall this being the case, but there are definitely item sets on these mocks that have appeared in past years’ mocks. There are unique item sets on these mocks that didn’t appear on any past mocks I’ve done or in any of the practice assessments on the website. However, if you’ve been through the practice assessments and some past mocks, your score on the “current mocks” will be skewed as you’ll be answering questions you’ve seen before.
@perdition : no, these are separate from the practice assessments on the CFAI website. There is a separate category called something like ‘mock exams’ with four hyperlinks (3 of which are 60-question tests).
I started going through the Schweser Book 2, Exam 2 AM portion. I was getting my ass kicked and resorted to doing the exam side-by-side the answer key. Anyone else have an issue with this exam?
lol you only thought you got killed. I did 49%. on the online mock exam for schwesser. i’m gonna review it later tonight. mock tests are def harder than pqs.
