practice exam results - how're you doing?

few days to the exam and my score is still pathaetic compared to you guys… need to whip my self harder 2009 cfai : 40% am 50% pm 2012 cfai (2011 am question and 2012 pm) 57 am 55 pm my achilees heel is derivative i rarely get right in this subject. i ditch derivative in L1 and 2. it is biting me now

You’re not the only one, far from it. As a matter of fact I am consistently scoring 20% lower in the morning. I would be more worried if our scores were the same for AM & PM as it would be more likely (in my case at least) to reflect lenient self-scoring than killer essay skills.

I read somewhere that over 90% of candidates score worse in the AM than in the PM, and that intuitively makes sense based on the different formats (if nothing else, you’ve got a 33.3% chance to guess right on every PM question, not so in the AM). I may on occasion be a tad too harsh on myself when grading my essays, but better safe than sorry.

[70s to low 80s in PM; 50s to low 60s in AM].

Yea, I have no idea how to gauge how I am actually going to do on the test. I’ve done 5 Schweser tests AM/PM and average literally at the 70% mark. A few CFAI’s and around the 70% range as well. I can’t seem to break 80% on either the AM or PM .

Book 1, Exam 1: AM: 65.6%, PM: 75%, Total: 70.3% Book 1, Exam 2: AM: 70%, PM: 65%, Total: 67.5% Book 1, Exam 3: AM: 73.9%, PM: 71.7%, Total: 72.8% Book 2, Exam 1: AM: 71.1%, PM: 71.7%, Total: 71.4% Book 2, Exam 2: AM: 61.1%, PM: 66.7%, Total: 63.9%

Fixed income continues to be a weak area, and keep forgetting to list return objectives. Consistently finishing the AM in 2 hours and the PM in 1.5 hours though.

In order starting on May 8th:

Sch. Book 1 AM Ex1: 70%

Sch. Book 1 AM Ex 2: 68%

Sch. Book 1 PM Ex3: 75%

2006 AM Exam: 68%

2007 AM Exam: 71%

2012 AM Exam: 76%

Sch. Book 2 PM Exam 2: 77%

2010 Morning Exam: 74%

Sch. Book 2 AM Ex 1: 70%

2011 Morning Exam: 79%

2014 AM Mock: 75%

Still pretty depressed as I keep messing up something tiny in random sections. Cant seem to pin down my issue like LeveragedTiger. Someone help…

Without being a Charizard you can’t successfully beat L3.

Schweser book 2, exam 1. AM 71%. PM 70%. Total 70%.

A little worried everyone here says they are finishing AM with 1-1.5 hours remaining, I am finishing PM with 1.5 hours remaining and scrambling to finish the AM with absolutely no time left. Not sure how everyone is doing the AM so darn fast!

92? Holy hell. How?

Don’t know, with some luck for sure

The test didn’t focus on my weaknesses.

While its entirely everyone’s choice, I would suggest doing end-of-chapter problems and text examples. CFAI cannot stray too much from the text.

For IPS, certainly look at the recent exams to understand how you should formulate your answer.

This is still modest … Last year at Level 2 we had someone reporting 100% as well

Looks like Superheroes are getiing more and more interested in the CFA program

92% makes me feel as if someone is grading the essay portion with very friendly parameters. A 93% almost certainly implies a 100% on the afternoon portion; so guilty by association! My avg (total score including AM/ PM sessions) is 68% and that exists only b/c my PM scores are averaging 80-82%. Even with that, I feel as my scores are putting me in the Band 8-10 range, and just short of passing. I’m sure I’m not alone, and certainly hope the aswesome scores referenced above this post are not the majority. Self selection bias is almost certainly the AF norm…

I’m getting around that range, very consistent 65-75% after 6-7 practice tests, as well cross-ied. I feel the same way, being borderline/short of passing. It is too bad because I went above what I did for the above 2 levels and I am still struggling.

Read CFAI EoC twice Schweser (At 1 1/2 times now) 6+ Mocks I have this last week off of work for more tests and revision. Hopefully that will put me in a safer zone.

No need to worry.

If you look at the results from last year here (other years are available if you search):

Its my best guess that the MPS is around +/- 65% ? Thoughts?

most of the decent marks posted including mine are in the PM and you can see the AM are significantly worse. There is only a small sample of keeners posting marks on AF so don’t take it as representative. Not to mention when you see people posting AM marks higher than the PM you gotta question their self judgement.

Yeah I am glad the level 3 AF people are a lot more real than level 2. I used to get so pissed off at some of those people. This one guy was like if your not scoring atleast 75 dont come to the test. Idiot.

It is tough to compare how you are doing relative to all Level 3 test takers because AF members tend to be more prepared. Also level 3 candidates in general are probably more prepared.

Just scored my highest mock scores to date on AM and PM. Feeling a little more confident, albeit still worried.

Schweser Book 2, Exam 3…72% AM, 77% PM.

oh helll… my mock pm a (jacaranda) is only 58 pct. feel i’m dying
